Spend 5 minutes on a celebrity photo site, and you’ll see it. Kendall Jenner on a coffee run. Hailey Bieber leaving Pilates. Kaia Gerber walking around New York in grey sweats. Different women, different cities, and very often the same name on the waistband: Alo.
The LA label started in 2007 for people who actually do yoga, and it still makes clothes for that. Somewhere along the way, though, it also became what famous people wear when they don’t want to look like they tried. The leggings flatter, the sweats are thick and soft, and the logos are small enough that nobody’s advertising anything. It’s celebrity athleisure at its most low-key.
I went back through years of street-style coverage to find the best Alo Yoga products that keep turning up on famous people, checked what they cost now, and linked straight to where you can buy them. None of it is cheap. Some of it is worth it anyway.
Why Alo, of All Brands?
Blame the Models
Around 2015, photographers kept catching Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber (still Baldwin back then) in the same few pairs of Alo Yoga leggings. Usually with a bomber jacket and sneakers. Fashion sites ran gallery after gallery of it, and that off-duty model style outlived the trend cycle.
It’s Mostly the Fabric
Alo’s fabric names sound like marketing, but they mean different things. Airlift is the tight, slightly glossy one. Airbrush is softer and matte. Accolade is the heavy French terry used for the sweats. Pair that with muted colors and tiny logos, and you get clothes that look good in a paparazzi shot from any angle. It also helps that Kendall Jenner, the most loyal of all the Alo Yoga celebrities, has fronted Alo campaigns for years, and the brand’s site has an entire section for pieces the Jenners have worn.
8 Alo Yoga Products Loved by Celebrities
Quick note: prices are Alo’s US list prices as I write this, and popular colors sell out fast.
1. High-Waist Airlift Legging
Start here. These are the Alo Airlift leggings people mean when they say “the Alo leggings.” If you’ve ever looked up Hailey Bieber’s Alo leggings, this is the pair she’s most often linked to. Jennifer Lopez was photographed in the black ones in LA, Marie Claire caught Kendall Jenner in them, and Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, and Gisele Bündchen get name-checked as fans every time a sale rolls around.
The High-Waist Airlift Legging is compressive and a little glossy. It holds everything in, but it doesn’t feel like Spanx, and the flat double-layer waistband is half the reason it photographs so well. Expect to pay around $128. It’s meant to be snug, so stick to your usual size unless you’re right between two.

2. High-Waist Airbrush Legging
If Airlift sounds too tight, try Alo’s Airbrush leggings instead. Back in 2016, Who What Wear found Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez and Olivia Palermo all wearing the high-waist Airbrush. Same leggings, four very different wardrobes.
Airbrush is matte and brushed, with medium compression. It’s the pair you can sit in all day without thinking about it. I like the 7/8 High-Waist Airbrush Legging ($118) with sneakers, especially if you’re on the shorter side. Full-length versions live in the Airbrush collection.
3. 7/8 High-Waist Moto Legging
The Alo Moto leggings are where the whole celebrity thing began. The Zoe Report says Kendall Jenner was first spotted in Alo’s Moto leggings in 2015. Two years later, Who What Wear named it the top pick for Gigi, Bella and Hailey.
It’s the most “fashion” of the bunch, with pintucks and mesh panels running down the legs. Do it the Hadid way: leather jacket or satin bomber, white sneakers, done. The 7/8 High-Waist Moto Legging is $128, and stock comes and goes, so don’t sit on it if your size is there.
4. 3″ High-Waist Airlift Short
Rolling Stone lists Bella Hadid as a fan of these. Think of these Alo Yoga shorts as the Airlift legging chopped to a 3-inch inseam. They don’t ride up, which is rarer in a bike short than it should be.
The 3″ High-Waist Airlift Short costs $84 and fits true to size. Throw an enormous hoodie over them for errands, or match them to an Airlift bra for class.

5. Seamless Ribbed Favorite Bra
Kylie Jenner posted herself in this one, and Blake Lively was spotted heading to the gym in a navy seamless ribbed Alo bra. The ribbing is what makes this Alo Yoga sports bra different. It reads more like a top than a sports bra, so it looks right peeking out from under an unbuttoned shirt.
The Seamless Ribbed Favorite Bra is $78. It has a small V-neck, straps you can cross or wear straight, and a hook closure at the back. We’d save it for yoga and Pilates rather than a long run.
6. Accolade 1/4 Zip Pullover
Jessica Alba wears hers with the matching sweatpants, Rolling Stone points out. The stand-up collar makes the Accolade 1/4 Zip Pullover look sharper than a hoodie, so it works on a plane, at brunch or over a pair of jeans.
It’s $148, unisex, and boxy on purpose, which is exactly why this Alo Accolade quarter zip looks so relaxed. Alo itself recommends going down a size if you want it closer to the body.

7. Accolade Straight Leg Sweatpant
Grazia reports that Kaia Gerber has worn these around New York, and Alba is a fan too. The straight leg is what sells these Alo Accolade sweatpants. A cuffed jogger can look like you just rolled out of bed. These look like you meant it.
The Accolade Straight Leg Sweatpant is $138 and comes in a slightly ridiculous number of colors. They run long and roomy, so shorter readers may want to size down.
8. ALO Recovery Mode Sneaker
Kylie Jenner has worn these on Instagram, and Rolling Stone calls them Glen Powell’s go-to shoe. From a few feet away, the ALO Recovery Mode Sneaker looks like a plain leather court sneaker. Underneath, there’s a structured sole and a springy foam insole made for long days on your feet.
Alo’s Recovery Mode sneakers are vegan leather, unisex, and true to size. At $195, that’s a lot for a white sneaker. They do go with every single thing above, though.
How to Wear It Like You Saw It on Instagram
Match your set. An Alo Yoga matching set, like a quarter-zip and sweatpants in the same color, is basically the celebrity airport uniform, and it’s the cheapest way to look expensive. One color family, top to bottom.
Add one “real” piece. Look closely at celebrity Alo Yoga outfits in paparazzi shots, and almost nobody is head to toe in gym clothes. There’s a blazer, a leather jacket, or a long wool coat over the leggings, and that single layer changes the whole outfit.
Then keep the extras simple: dark sunglasses, a cap, a decent bag, crew socks, clean sneakers.
Is Alo Actually Worth the Money?
Is Alo Yoga worth it? Some of it, yes. The leggings are the real deal. Business Insider had three reporters wear the Airlift for months, and they were still fans at the end of it.
The Accolade sweats are a little trickier. They’re cozy and look great, but some buyers complain about pilling after a few washes. Wash cold, inside out, and keep them away from a hot dryer. If you’re only buying one thing, buy leggings. You’ll wear them the most.
Where Should You Start?
You don’t need the whole closet. Pick one piece, wear it with clothes you already own, and see if you actually reach for it. For most people, that’s a pair of Airlift or Airbrush leggings. If you live in sweats, it’s the Accolade straight-leg pant. And if you can hold off for an Alo Yoga sale like the spring Aloversary or Black Friday, your wallet will thank you.
FAQ About Alo Yoga
A lot of them. Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, and Taylor Swift have all been photographed in it. Kendall Jenner’s Alo Yoga campaigns have made her the face most tied to the brand.
The High-Waist Airlift Legging, with the Airbrush legging and Accolade sweatpants close behind.
When it comes to Alo Yoga sizing, leggings, shorts, and bras mostly run true. Accolade pieces are unisex and cut big, so plenty of people go down a size.
Airlift if you want hold and a sleek, slightly shiny look. Airbrush if you want something softer and matte that you can wear all day.
The safest place is aloyoga.com or an Alo store, where shipping and returns are free. Nordstrom, FWRD, and The Shop at Equinox also carry a smaller selection.
The biggest sale is the Aloversary event each spring, which has taken 30 percent off sitewide. Black Friday is the other one to watch.
Wash them cold and inside out, and skip the hot dryer. Tumble dry low or hang them to dry.
